Pick the right technology for your device

Coverage depends on the cellular technology your device uses. Onomondo supports them all on a single profile, so you can mix and match by market without changing SIMs.

2G & 3G
Still widely used for IoT, but being switched off in many markets. Check sunset dates before you rely on them, and plan a migration path.
4G / LTE
The widest modern footprint and the default fallback for most deployments, with higher throughput where LPWA isn’t available or needed.
Cat1-bis
Mid-range throughput and full mobility on standard LTE, with no special network support required. A common 2G/3G replacement with similar benefits to LPWA.
NB-IoT
Deep indoor penetration and very low power for stationary devices like meters and sensors. Strong in Europe and Asia.
LTE-M (Cat-M1)
Low power with mobility, voice, and higher throughput than NB-IoT. Strong in North America. Good for moving assets and trackers.
5G NSA
Supported in non-standalone mode where available, riding the 4G core for higher capacity. (Standalone 5G is not supported.)
Which network technology
is best for your use case?

Answer a few questions and we will help you choose the most suitable network technology for your IoT project.

Choosing your networks

A map you can act on, not just read

Most coverage maps are a reseller’s view of someone else’s integrations. Because we run the network ourselves, coverage is something you configure and control, not a fixed list you accept.

Best signal, not a preferred partner
Devices connect to the strongest allowed network in a location, instead of being steered to one carrier’s roaming partner.
  • Non-steered network selection
  • Multiple operators per country
Build your own coverage maps
Pick the networks your devices may use from the Network Marketplace and apply them as Network Lists, per region or per SIM, for coverage quality or cost.
  • Per-fleet or per-SIM control
  • Update any time via platform or API
See why a device connects (or doesn’t)
Because we run the core, you get real-time network and signaling logs to confirm attaches and diagnose coverage issues.
  • Live Network & Signaling Logs
  • No carrier support ticket needed
