Copenhagen, Denmark, and Shanghai, China, 23/08/2024 – Onomondo, an innovative IoT connectivity provider, and SIMCom Wireless Solutions Limited, a global leader in IoT communication and solution, will conduct a joint technology showcase at SIDO Lyon 2024, held from September 18-19 at the Cité Internationale in Lyon, France.
Building on a successful collaboration with the integration of Onomondo’s SoftSIM technology into SIMCom’s A7672 Series LTE Cat 1 modules, the two companies continue to drive innovation in the IoT ecosystem.
“For innovators worldwide looking to adopt IoT solutions faster while reducing costs, this partnership provides a streamlined, efficient path to large-scale deployment.”
Luo Xiaoyan, CTO at SIMCom
The showcase at SIDO will provide innovators with access to Onomondo and SIMCom’s latest IoT technologies, including:
Onomondo SoftSIM integrated with SIMCom modules:
- A 100% software-based and vendor-agnostic IoT SIM solution.
- Fully downloadable from the cloud, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards.
- Reduces power consumption of devices in idle mode.
- Lowers the bill of materials and total cost of ownership (TCO).
SIMCom A7672 Series with integrated Onomondo SoftSIM:
- Pre-enabled connectivity solution from the manufacturing line.
- Simplified manufacturing process and reduced time-to-deployment.
- Dramatically reduced overall Bill-of-Materials (BoM).

The joint showcase at SIDO Lyon is part of the companies’ holistic effort to support IoT technology maturation and enable various industries to access effective, affordable, and critically needed IoT connectivity solutions.
“Our partnership with SIMCom continues to break down barriers in the IoT ecosystem,” said Michael Karlsen, co-founder and CEO at Onomondo. “By integrating our SoftSIM technology with SIMCom’s modules, we’re enabling IoT developers to extend their devices’ lifetime, minimize battery consumption, reduce debugging time, and lower the bill of materials – all through functionality within the network and the SIM itself.”
Luo Xiaoyan, CTO at SIMCom, said: “Our continued collaboration with Onomondo represents a significant step forward in enabling innovations in IoT. For innovators worldwide looking to adopt IoT solutions faster while reducing costs, this partnership provides a streamlined, efficient path to large-scale deployment.” Luo added, “We’re excited to bring our hardware expertise to the forefront, alongside Onomondo’s connectivity solutions, to deliver comprehensive IoT solutions that address the complex needs of global IoT deployments.”
Attendees at SIDO Lyon are invited to visit Onomondo and SIMCom at booth 128 to experience the benefits of their collaborative solution firsthand. The companies will demonstrate how their combined technologies can make IoT deployments more streamlined and cost-effective, opening up new avenues for customers across various industries.
Both Onomondo and SIMCom are committed to delivering the most reliable IoT solutions to customers and look forward to discussing future prospects and potential applications with event attendees.

About SoftSIM:
SoftSIM is a 100% software SIM, with no SIM chips required. The network profile is downloaded from the cloud and reuses the already existing microcontroller on IoT devices, which can be either on the modem/radio-module or on the microcontroller running the embedded operating system, allowing the SIM to be stored and executed as pure software. This means that they can continue to do the work they do within trusted environments, e.g. ARM’s TrustZone, TPMs (Trusted Platform Module). Find out more about SoftSIM on our SoftSIM product page.
